The opening theme presented here consists of several different tracks played by myself including guitar, congas, bass, piano, shakers, and my venerable favorite: the Vibra-slap.
The horn section was recorded at Doppler Studios and my good friend Eddie Horst helped with the arrangements. Growing up in West Texas I was always intrigued by Tejano music and the wonderful horn arrangements and used that as my template. I tried to combine some elements of Tejano, Mariachi, and Afro-Cuban music to reflect the wide culture that Rick’s show was exploring.
